Agree, mostly because I wouldn't have to do a separate conversion before uploading things.
But the mp3 algo is not free, so it might cost some bucks to implement it as a save as.

The LAME mp3 encoder is free. and the new v3.96.1 is really fast, faster than realtime. it can rival commercial encoders. Ableton you should check it out.
