Thanks everyone. First off, im definetly not buying a G5 just for live. My main use will definetly by reason, pro-tools, and hopefully logic, but I was curious as to if its worth the extra cash for the dual 2.7. It sounds like everything will work out fine.

ejectorset, my airport is running strong at the moment. I wasnt aware of any conflicts between live. Could you elaborate?

I bought a G5 2.0 specifically because live was bogging down my DA 533x2. Using mainly soft-synths and impulse, I could usually get between 6 and 8 tracks before falling down.

With the G5 the same thing barely registers cpu meter. The most I ever do in my songs are up to maybe 50% cpu ... but I don't usually use effects and I rarely make it above 10 or 12 tracks... just the aforementioned soft-synths and impulse.

By the way, I always bring my stuff into AudioDesk before adding real instruments, and AudioDesk (MOTU) is crazy efficient--it did NOT need a G5 to run well ... but it didn't hurt. :D

Also, I've never rewired anything -- I'm not even sure what it does, so I can't even comment on the G5's performance there.
