Not that you were asking but I have been really working out my studio to a painful degree, I recently lost a finger and carpal tunnel drives me away from the mouse,
as far as iPad midi/audio-daw -back to iPad apps are concerned I'm using musicIO it is seamless unlike midimux and audiomux with Audiobus , not saying they don't work but it was hell for me to route, musicIO is so easy, amazing. With touchable mini for your iPhone or iPod along with mobilemousepro, so three devices all working together.. And duet to bounce screens. Also put a virtual home button on the iPad through accessibility menu, way faster than hardware home, switch apps fast.
I have an old 3Gs along with an ipodtouch 6.1 and the ipad2 os8 all old shit and plenty powerful. 2011 MacBook Pro as well.. Even with windows you can configure idevices check it out.
