Well, what I've found is that one button loop recording is possible. But it depends on Streuner's looping device which I mentioned above.

The trick is to turn off the arm-exclusive preference, then it's possible to arm say, 8 tracks all at once and then use a controller (APC mini, Push, FCB1010) to trigger the clip slots which will then punch out after 2 or 4 bars. But there is the "delete" problem with that device.

What's cool about Valiumdupeuple's device, the session looper, is the ability to double or halve the loop length on the fly. However, the way his device is set up, it's not possible to get down to less than 2 buttons presses for each loop.

For those of you with iOS devices, you may have seen the Loopy app which has all this functionality already built in (and is what has set me on this quest). What Loopy doesn't have though is scenes. It's limited to 12 loops at a time.

I think I'll probably stick with the session looper for now until I can find someone who can fix Streuner's device and hopefully add in the double/halve loop length function. Or until Ableton finally does something in order to silence my unending email requests to build this in.

Bitwig Studio does have this functionality since version 1.3.8 and it's called "Post recording action". It's a dropdown in which there is an option "Play recorded". A number of beats / measures can be entered. I have tried it and it works great for both audio and midi clips, especially when Bitwig is running in tablet mode.

I tried Session Looper, but whenever I open it, I'm prevented from clicking anywhere on Live's UI, and the Session Looper window cannot be moved

I want to keep going with it, but haven't had the cash to purchase the Ableton upgrade that includes M4L.

I just realised while reading the thread, so I haven't tried it out yet, but how about just having a second channel for resampling just the track with the looper on, and just forgetting about the entire "drag me" button? Or route it some other way, in a similar way. ^^,

Voice assistance for this would be nice. "record" "stop" and the voice assistance would stop at the nearest completed bar etc.

This should definitely be implemented! I'm making demos with guitar and bass, and it's pretty annoying to trim items all the time. Needless interruption of the creative flow.

Sorrowfully, the plugin linked above is not longer available at that url (it's a 404).

I'd also like to use the Session view as described above (not the Session Looper).
