I'm going to wait it out I think. Kontakt is by far the most used Komplete instrument for me, nothing changes with it, and I just picked up East West Sphonic Orchestra for next to nothing, sounds great and negates the cut down orchestral libraries in 11, Reaktor 6 remains the most relevant to me. Partaily it's not NI's fault, I've come into some great packages lately, and they've lost their luster a it.

I was really hoping they would update the GUI's of the older instruments to be retina/hi-res with this release. :(

Still don’t understand why they haven’t touched Massive. At the very least a glaring omission is the lack of user wavetables. Serum FTW on that (and other things).

Fun fact. I recently found out NI charges a pretty hefty licensing fee to third party developers to have their Kontakt library accessible in the main browser. I don’t know exactly how much but it sounds like potentially on a $200 library $100 of it goes to NI for that user convenience. :?

So if you come across some cheap Kontakt libraries don’t assume they are crap. Assume at least partially they don’t want to pay that licensing fee to have it in the main browser. I’m sure the developer realizes that added charge would move their smallish library from tempting to not worth it.

Yeah, like I mentioned earlier in the thread, a GUI update would have been very welcome. Maybe they can start shipping magnifying glasses with Komplete Ultimate. I think the fee for having a Kontakt library actually appear in the library tab is more about it being compatible with the free Kontakt Player (i.e. to ensure that at least SOME money ends up at NI). It puts developers in a position where they have to choose between paying NI protection money or force their users to buy the full Kontakt (which would be a deterrent to new customers). This is also annoying to Kontakt owners, as it forces us to use the ridiculous and crippled library feature (and mandatory activation in Service Centre).

Another issue buying third party libraries directly from the developers is updates. The initial install is usually some convoluted multi rar files that are a pain to install properly in the first place. When they are done unpacking I usually can't tell what is what, what can be thrown out, and paths are sometimes broken. I usually don’t bother with updates because I’m scared that’s going to break something and the developers don’t do a good job of explaining things. I wish if the libraries are accessible in the Kontakt browser which developers are paying a licensing fee for then updates should also be available in Service Center.

Exactly! Not that I'm not loving and exploring Massive as is still, but it would be so fun.

It boggles my mind that the same developer of Kontakt and Reaktor can’t figure out how to put user wavetables in Massive or they don’t think people would find that useful. In Serum you can even just drop a picture file on it and it becomes a wavetable.

Got an invite email for the beta for the new Native Access application. I was thinking it would be a subscription service we are predicting but sounds like it’s just replacing Service Center. At any rate, I have no interest in beta testing software that is supposed to keep your software up to date. Sounds dangerous. If anybody else got the invite and is brave enough to test it report back your findings.

What I'd really like to see is software that will easily remove outdated, broken, redundant, or unregistered NI software you have on your drive.

For real, it took me ages to get rid of all that Kore crap on my desktop.

They have an uninstall app, worked fine for me removing Maschine and Komplete 10 for me.

You seem like a clean install guy. I’ve been cloning or migrating the same drive since 2007 and NI software has pretty much been there from the beginning. The issue usually comes into focus when I startup Service Center. It asks me to enter the serial for an early version of Traktor I no longer have and yet I am using the current version of Traktor. What am I supposed to delete? I also have several libraries I haven’t used in ages it tells me there are updates available but when I go to install the updates it gives me error messages. There’s usually about 2 dozen updates available that I’m not sure what they are or they don’t work.

Eek, doing anything from 2007 and related to computers definitely is not my forte! Yeah, usually about once every year or two I start from scratch to keep things lean and up to date. But I admit that also means I don't use a lot of software tools and only use those I know are updated regularly that I'll use often too, which I know is not how everyone works.

On the flipside, very rarely do I ever have any update issues! And this is from someone who updates apps and OS's the day they release new versions.

The closest I’ve ever come to a mass plugin update/cleanup is when I switched to Logic Pro X which is 64 bit only. Updated what I could. Forgot about the rest. Never deleted anything though which I probably should because I probably won’t open a 32 bit host ever again.

I wish all music software developers would get together and decide on a Service Center For All where you could get easy updates for everything you own. Hell, charge for access to such a thing. I would pony up.

I'm curious about the new Native Access, hopefully it will makes installation and updates easier.
