With 250% scaling you get effective 1536 x 864 resolution, Why bother with 4K then?

No I wouldn't, because 4k is the resolution of the screen and with win 10 intelligent scaling disabled (WORKAROUND) On MY SCREEN I would need that level of zoom to set it to look normal, AND crisp.
What I am saying is WORKAROUND DOESNT WORK ON SMALL SCREENS
You are not understanding the issue. Pixel density vs dimension. An old 17" monitor with 1080x720 resolution is blurrier than a modern 4k 17" monitor, because the 4k has a greater pixel density. Size of screen is independent of density.
I suspect the 4k monitor you are looking at must be over 22 inches? Perhaps even 40 inches.
You are not looking at the same thing as me. Screen cap your screen, now reduce that image to a 13" diagonal. Tell me that's readable to you.
You are commenting as if you are authoritative. But you are wrong, no matter how often you repeat your wrong information. You not seeing what I am seeing and I am tired of trying to explain what is obvious.
Ableton have not yet fixed 4k scaling on windows, they have admitted this, it is a known fact.
There is a workaround way to make it usable on LARGE 4k monitors, but this is only a workaround and does not work for laptop screens.
When Ableton fix the known bug no users will need to check that preference workaround box because font scaling will work correctly. When I dont touch that box the fonts are blurry, but the GUI is the correct size.
When the bug is fixed the fonts will not be blurry, they will be the right size AND crisp just like on OSX which was fixed in a previous version, and it will work just like most other Win10 applications.
At the moment it is a known bug.
