Are the the newer ssd's pci? You should be able to do the same unless they weld the hard drive in now.

Even in the new iMac Pros you cannot change your mind. I think "Pro" should mean you can upgrade memory and disks yourself. Apparently Apple does not.
I urge you give Apple feedback on all affected machines.
