I have my large Live set loaded... working away. Switch a Chrome browser to view something on the web. Come back to Live. As soon as I touch anything, it freezes with a spinning beach ball.

I do this action often. I wasn't aware when I started this thread that it was happening soon after changing the focus of the Ableton Live app.

Time to switch back to Safari then. It's faster anyway.

Just tested it on my MBP (10.13.3), but so far it doesn't happen...

This all makes sense why it doesn't happen during live performances. I don't toggle applications then. Strictly stay on Ableton Live App screen.
Tonight I'm going to see if it's Chrome ONLY, or any app. Hence, when Ableton is in the background.

You might be interested in AtMonitor, especially its "renicing" controls.

Still happening frequently while programming sets. Again, I switch (Alt-Tab) between applications. And when I return to Ableton and mouse over or click anything, it freezes up.

I have sent the crash reports that are generated when you launch Ableton after a crash. I'll send a separate email tonight.

It’s been working pretty good for me. I had an occasional crash. That said 10 seems to use more CPU.

I got sort of the same problem ... Live! GUI gets frozen but the the top left menu works and all commands also chrome has this behavior and all since i`ve updated windows 10 to the last version (april2018) ... there is no cpu or ram problem as the usage never goes more then 30%.
I did a search on the windows problem and found that a lot of people are reporting freeze ups after the last update in different software. so it might be that... if some of you have the same version ...

I run Live 9.7.5 both in Osx and Win 10 and the same thing is happening too.

For reference does anyone has any maxforlive devices in your set?

I do. I've tried all the newest betas and releases. Happens in all of them.
