Thanks man, that's the best compliment I've gotten yet about ANY

I'm happy as hell to be "filthy"

I did think of the "negative is positive" thing because I have
grandsons I hear saying something is "Sick" or "Twisted"
and even more coloful negatives and they're HAPPY about it.
"Filthy" was a new one on me.

Thanks for taking the time to listen AND write me back... you're the best.
It means something (special) when other producers compliment you on your hard work...
Hey if you have your tunage posted somewhere point me to it, please!
I'll give you an honest opinion, hopefully "disgustingly filthy!"

Truth be told, I totally agree with what you say about reducing dynamic range.
I NEED my dynamic range! Without it, my tracks are shit. They're FLAT!

One of the things that makes me a guitar player people seem to love to listen
to IS DYNAMICS... How many guitarists all use picks made out of stone that they
beat the instrument with (thrash) with everything on ten, 32nd notes;
chords or leads? Now ask me why I don't listen to that shit?

That's not a musician to me.
BUT... I have to support Stromkrafts statement that without using it WRONG FIRST
you really don't know how to stop "falling off the bike."
I thought the book suggestion was a great idea too. I was blundering through minefields
with Live and Instruments / VST's etc... and someone called me on that dumb shit too!
Someone on this board! They said "read these books/videos..." and I got others too.
Different paradigms, but a footprint path through the minefield.
And I re-learned not to try to figure everything out for myself.
Someone left a bread-crumb trail for me to follow!

no one said a compressor is going to fix my sound like some magic trick like you are insinuating with all this jerking off and creaming on pants...(whats with that btw?)
i asked what should i do to tame my compression when I'm using it in ways that you probably havent ever thought about using.
and i hope you're not including me in the "list of motherfuckers who don't know what a compressor is or why its needed"

This is a public forum and if you can't express anger/frustration

Wow! I got the kicks and snares "out of the mud" in two of my mixes
I thought couldn't get any better!

It's worth a look! BTW, the comp settings on the example SQUASH
everything so of course, play with the Attack, threshold and ratio
settings... "Season to taste" if you wish. I found it VERY helpful,
and... I have read three books by accomplished Mix/Mastering "Gods"
so I do know where, when, why AND HOW to use EQ / Compression.
