I am having exactly the same problem with my 2021 Mac Book Pro (M1 Max Chip), and have just found this thread a s result of searching for answers. Is this audio issue just impacting MBP's from 2018 onwards? as I have never had this issue on any prior MBP's I have owned which are 2015 & 2010 models?

Thank you, this saved me! One thing I wanted to add is that apparently the clock source and drift correction should be different because the drift correction corrects for a variance of sample rate over time and uses the clock source as a reference.
