I hope Ableton will address this,
I hope they do. Quickly.
Have you reported this to tech support?
The more people bring it up, the better.

@Rivanni, are you seeing this on both Win and OSX, like Niels On?
I'm having a hard time believing it's not OS nor mouse related. Not saying I don't trust your observations @Niels On, but it seems weird that the issue isn't more widespread then.

Yes, also on macOS.
Last year I bought a Mac. I was disappointed when I noticed that the exact same mouse behaviour I knew from Windows also occurred in MacOS.

Maybe it is widespread but just not recognized as big issue by most other people or they simply got used to it. I can also imagine that Live ignores slow mouse movements when holding automation break points intentionally to prevent accidental movements and it just doesn't interfere with the workflow of other people.
Can't remember Live behaved differently on any system i used it.

When i want to drag a breakpoint on a clip in arrangement view without enlarging the track size it is way harder to precisely move that point than with enlarged clip because of the proportionally smaller space.
Everywhere else in Live i have a constant mouse movement and in the pen mode used with mouse it recognizes very slow movements too when holding breakpoints. I assume a mouse is always sending the same data but Ableton just interprets them differently deepening on if tablet pen mode or does a mouse sending different kinds of signal like a exact pixel position on the screen together with a relative signal that just sends movement direction and speed values?

Well, that's physics of mother nature and it's quite hard to defeat :)

No problem with slow movement here, even with reduced track height. I also checked multiple times the Pen Mode but it's not doing anything different at all for me.
I've always only used apple trackpads (external ones or the map's builtin one), though. I have an "emergency mouse" somewhere, I'll find it check how it works.

Interesting, i will try to get my hands on various other systems to try them. The track height makes the problem only more obvious because the transition between no movement and to fast has more impact, but isn't the reason. I wrote it only as possible way that might make the behavior easier to reproduce.

does someone know if this is fixed in ableton 12?
i have this problem as long as i can remember.
it is what keeps me from using automations a lot.

Still not fixed in Live 12. 😒
