Well, never said it didn't have some kind of purpose, maybe for scientists or something, but you also need to consider that microphones have a frequency range too. You would need specialised equipment, cables, connections, shielding and all that to even make use of it.
Then again, apart from scientific reasons, what is the point of it in general audio when no playback equipment or human ears make use of it. The question is, why do YOU need it?

I personally know about DSD (what is SDS?), but this is not what you asked for in your original question. You were clearly referring to PCM sampling rate. DSD is a completely different system.

I am not saying that I need it, I was only asking if there is support for this. Yes you need special microphone, so what, the main thing is that the software supports this function, the equipment can always be found.jestermgee wrote: ↑Wed Aug 26, 2020 12:41 amWell, never said it didn't have some kind of purpose, maybe for scientists or something, but you also need to consider that microphones have a frequency range too. Ableton is hybrid.Bulemy wrote: ↑Sat Aug 22, 2020 4:14 pmCakewalk has 64 bit / 384 khz. Would be nice if ableton kept up!
By the way, Ableton - a fully 64 bit engine, or a hybrid of 32 bit?
Is it relevant?

But that said 32 bit FP is more than enough.
