If you click the file from the Project Manager, it will show it in the Browser.
Another place to look at, is comped takes in Arrangement.

Yes, project manager helped. Also, as you suggested, the unwanted files were 'hidden' in collapsed takes. I'll know where to look next time. Thanks!

Had the same problem. This solved it! My unwanted files were also hidden in auto-generated take lanes.
