Yes Robert,
please work hard on clip transport, but you all already do for sure!
If you find some time for the skins, think to make things better distinguishable, means as ex that the highlighted clip is realy HIGHlighted compared to the other (perhaps darker) clips.
Or in the waveformdisplay not to make the waveform something like brown (more friendly colours), and the cursor black, as for most of the skins in L5 now.
I really like
clay, metal, mono 3,4,5,6 and 8.
Greetings

Robert.
my only suggestion is to say how much i loved the monolake skins, however the way they work in V.5 with the different colored border of the focused section (in many cases green) makes most of those skins clash within themselves.
So if its possible to modify those skins so that the focused section border is a more neutral color or shade then great! I'm all for it.
If not, well then i'm happy enough with the new CLAY skin to be content.

I like most of them - a good selection. More would be fun. I'm not bothered about making my own, though!
Favourites not yet mentioned by anyone:
Business (which I'm using currently), Fungus (very nice in spite of the name!) and all time favourite - PINE.

My favorite live skin? That's a toss-up between my mate's and my own skin, both of which are covered with black fur (with stylish white stripes down the back and tail; Millicent's also got white on her paws and front). Mine does a reasonably good job of keeping me from resembling Xipe Totec, which would never do.

We dont really need a full-on skinning app, it would be nice if the skins were stored as XML or perhaps an editable text format of some kind.
EG:
wavebackground(128,0,255);
waveline(255,255,255);
keep the official live skins as they are but add the text parsing ability just for 'user skins'
still not simple, but simpler.
If you did that I bet some user would code up a skin designer for you just for the kicks - hell it could be easily done as a web app using PHP or flash or JS if you just expose the properties.

I'd just like to see some cooler ones, ones more geared towards long hours in a studio rather than visibility on a dark stage. I find that out of all the apps I've ever used, Live give me the most eyestrain. I work with monitors all day, then come home and use Live all evening. I tried turning the brightness down on the monitor but it's not the same as having a skin with a really subdued, subtly coloured skin.
I guess it's a really personal thing at the end of the day. Mono17 was my choice for live4, I'm also pretty happy with Clay in 5.

having a real contrast available for selecting clips would be great. I often find myself wondering which clip is currently the selectable one (where is at, IOW) while performing... this becomes extremely useful when not using the mouse to select clips, but when you are using a MIDI controller to select your clips.
That being said, I prefer Midnight for performing because it reduces the glare of the laptop on stage.... hard to see the playback cursor on the waveform though. That, and the lack of contrast in the session view for clip selection are the only drawbacks.

this is exactly why i use Default 2.1 - the colors are balanced, clear, easy on the eyes .. and now looks really cool with the muted blue borders and little blue lit icons
perfect for long sessions

Yes yes. I too would like this. Anyone could write a skin-maker using their favorite programming or scripting language. I'd not worry if it had The Live Look -- how often would anyone use such a tool? It could be utilitarian or luxurious... I wouldn't care, long as it did the job.
Truth be told, skins don't really thrill me. But for them as likes messing with 'em an open, accessible format would be great.

mono 15 is really workin for me...in L5 that is.
Uh yah the skins totally matter to me...it's the mood setting of the interface.
I would like to be able to edit these...than we could share em.....
I'm sure alot of people on the forum are simultaneously into the VIZ arts (Sound and Vision) so that's a natural...(unless it could cause tech probs???)
