I don't know if it's any use to you, but I made a Max4Live device specifically for controlling the Kemper in Performance Mode. It handles all those Program Changes for you and makes them easily programmable from the track automation lanes.

I've never used it in Session View, though -- it works via track automation, not midi automation inside clips, so I don't know how that would translate.

You can control your Kemper manually using the buttons and sliders on the device, but its strength is in automation. If you tell Live to show automation (hit 'A' on your keyboard to show/hide, I believe), clicking one of the device's controls will show its automation curve on the track lane. There, you can use the mouse to set break points and make changes at appropriate times in the song.

* Edit: I may have misunderstood your question. I thought you wanted to record the MIDI output from your Kemper to replicate its patch changes.

Did you mean hit record and then move the buttons and sliders on the M4L device at the appropriate times in the song, recording those actions as automations? If so, yes, that should be possible, but you'll get a much more precise result if you start from scratch and enter the changes directly on the automation curves. As mentioned above, just click the control you want to automate to bring up its curve in the track lane.

You can also select the parameter you want to automate from the automation drop down menu:

Oh no... I totally forgot Max for Live isn't built into all versions of Live! I have the Suite, I thought at least the Standard edition had it too. Gaaah... Sorry about the disappointment!

I don't know if there's a trial version of Max you could install temporarily to test it?
