well actually, don't tell anyone but this is my nefarious plan: beach input>art output>$ input - i haven't got it quite perfected yet. but like i say it's a secret, so don't tell anyone.hambone1 wrote: I'd take your big screen over mine any day... but this one pays the bills!

The question is...
I'm interested on the subject...Is any of the mentioned software "light" enough to be run on a laptop (1.6Ghz Centrino, 768MB ram, 60 Gb/5400 disk PC) alongside ableton for a gig?
I tried resolume, but it eats up resources like a monster (huge CPU eater)...
And, what do you think are the most stable/developed options for VJ software out there? They all seem to be a little bit "under development", am I right?

Turn up the radio. Turn up the tape machine. Look into the sunset up ahead. Roll the windows down for a better taste of the cool desert wind. Ah yes. This is what it's all about. Total control now.
Try the Arkaos demo. There's a beta hardware version that uses your video card for video effects instead of your CPU.
As to whether or not you can use it along Live, it all depends on what you're doing with Live. I'm just playing 3-4 tracks with compression, EQ, etc... no soft-synths or CPU hungry reverbs, etc. It works great!

I've managed to Run Arkaos alongside live with vstis and the whole shebang - gotta love rewire! My laptop is a 1.5ghz thinkpad r40 - Oh, and this was when my laptop only had stock ram - 256megs
You should be fine as long as you don't run a gazillion things in live. But man, playing real-time midi notes into live, and using them to trigger effects and images in Arkaos, looping the clips, and using them to play synths as well - that's some funky stuff right there.

mbp 2.66, osx 10.6.8, 8GB ram.

You obviously haven't played Grand Theft Auto or FIFA 2005 on a 10' screen with a 2.6kW PA in your living room!
Actually I've never had the video game conversion experience. I don't get TV. This forum is my equivalent of telly and boy, talk about your end of season cliffhangers recently...![]()
No doubt Pitchblack. I want to start calling it "Days of our Live" after the soap opera of the same name. BTW did you ever get the PM I sent you a while back?
3ghz Pentium 4 (Prescott), XP Sp2, 1gig Ram, Dual Monitor with Matrox Millenium, MOTU Traveler, Event EZ8 Adat card. Also IBM THinkpad t40 1.6 1 gig ram
