Perhaps - I'm downloading the latest beta. We'll see how it goes.

b4 is out... read the top thread of the bugs and problem forum.
but there is nothing about ST2 issue
The problem appears to be fixed in 502b5. I'm running multiple instances of ST1LE and ST2 without issues.

I spoke too soon. Sound still ceases after a while for Sampletank in 502b5. All the rest of the plugs continue to work. Upon saving, I get a serious program error message.
I sent my error log file to Ableton so hopefully this can be resolved.

I'm also running 2.0.9. Are you running multitimbrally?
Try setting up a track for ST2, no inputs, sends only for outputs.
Then set up a midi and audio track pointing to ST2's patch #1. Record.
Then set up another pair of midi and audio tracks pointing to ST2's patch #2. Record.
This is the recommended method for multitimbral use. I routinely do this in 4.1.1 without issues. With 5.0.1 the PC freezes after recording. With 5.0.2 beta 5 and 6 no freezing, but the audio for Sampletank is muted and never recovers until the set is closed and re-opened. Sometimes a serious program error occurs. Nothing else loaded. No problems in my other hosts either.

I also tried disabling the inputs of each track after recording, even though I never had to do that in 4.1.1. I seemed to get further, recording three takes, but then the sound muted and I got a critical error message. This is really discouraging. I paid for version 5 and can't use it at all.

Same issue with 5.0.2 beta 7 and Sampletank 2.0.9. I have rock solid performance in 4.1.1, but even if I create a file in 4.1.1 and then open it in 5.0.2b7, once I start changing routing sound output will cease in Sampletank and a serious program error occurs. Sending this as my third bug report to Ableton for the same issue.

At least in version 5.0.2, when I use sampletank, Live dosn't crash windows totally, now its "only" Live that quits by itselt after some 10-15 mins of work !
Nice !

Zaphop,
That is exacly what I am experiencing with Sampletank 2.0.9 and Live 5.0.2! I have stopped using Ableton Live for writing new songs, and feel cheated for upgrading to v5 after two bug fixes that don't address this issue.
Fortunately I have Project 5 as a backup for composing new songs, which works flawlessly with Sampletank 1 and Sampletank 2.
For what it's worth, I put in three bug reports to Ableton. I got one response saying I reported a bug related to abnormal shutdown of the system. I tried to explain to Ableton that the system shut down was because of Live's handling of Sampletank, not the other way around. No response since then.
EDIT: Upon further research I discovered that the last version of Live that works with Sampletank 1 (not 2) on two different DAW's I used for testing is 4.0.4. The last version of Live that worked with Sampletank 2 was 4.1.4.
Too bad...I have been a vocal supporter of Live until now...

Update: I seem to be having better luck with Sampletank 2 LE 2.0.7 and Live 5.0.2. So far that is the only combination that is relatively stable.
I asked IK Support if I could DL a 2.0.7 version of Sampletank XL (2.0.9 is the full version I have that crashes with Live).

I'm constantly running into this issue running Sonic Synth 2 (which uses the SampleTank 2 engine) in Live 5 (all versions). Very annoying, as SS2 is an instrument I use a lot. . . .

Generalfuzz,
I use Sonic Reality sounds as well - Dave is awesome!
I also recently downloaded ST 2.1 engine to see if it would solve the Live 5 problems. Nope. I have given up on Ableton or IK addressing these issues.
Since all my songs rely on Sampletank engines, my only workaround is to insert my Sampletank VST's in another host and rewire that host into Live 5.
For what it's worth, Project 5 v2 works flawlessly as a synth rack for Sampletank. Still, there must be cheaper alternative for musicians that don't already own another rewire slave application. Any suggestions? Maybe something like energy XT?
