Personally I dont like the look of the Evolution stuff or M-Audio stuff (Except the sound cards), so looks like I'm going to wait until someone releases a half decent Midi controller which feels like a real mixer!

There are no decent DJ mixer style MIDI controllers on the market currently. Your choices are basically the Evolution UC-33e, X-Session, Behrenger BCF/BCR, or FaderFox.
waht about the xone 3d?

Or how about the Ecler Nuo 4...its out now and under $800 USD

I think all of this technology- the PC-DJ-MIDI-AUDIO marriage is still so new that the perfect solution does not exist yet...But it is an exciting time though.. :D

I'm in the market at the moment here's some of my conclusions. If I'm wrong please post it sooner rather than after I've forked out a heap of cash. Also any thoughts on the merits of using a Dj mixer as an analog summing bus? also Midi crossfaders V's Analog Crossfaders in terms of response and action.

X:92
Dual Analog filters which sell for 580 as a seperate rack unit for a single filter
A&H 4 band Eq on 4channels + 2 mic
Midi functions
Midi functions seem like an afterthought added to a current mixer design
(does anyone know if you say tweak the bass eq, switch to midi mode then use the same knob for something else is that knobs control of the bass eq disengaged?)
Built like a tank
Cumbersome.
Expensive

X:Zone 3D
Not stocked everywhere
Expensive
Lacks analog filters
Cumbersum
Some people dislike the layout specifically the midi faders
A&H 4band EQ and signal path
The 4 way+ rotary pads could be very usefull
Designed somewhat with ableton in mind
Expensive

Faderfox. LV1/LX1
Designed with ableton in mind and gives a lot of control
Battery power = less cables
Metal construction
Controls seem very close together
Nothing else is quiet like the LX1
Very compact and portable
Joystick
The price is nice :)

Ecler Nuo 4
4 analog channels with 3 band Eq and bass kills.
Its been said to sound better than the X:zone.
Midi mode similar to 92 plus a dedicated control area with 4 push button rotary encoders with 3 shift states and a total of 72 midi functions
Can route audio in a stereo channel via a USB connection.
USB connection could just be another thing that could conflict with my current soundcard or go tits up on the night
Oversized controls with adjustable curves for the crossfader and line channels

Waveidea Bitstream 3x
Bigger than Faderfoxs with more room for controls but a lot more portable than a Dj mixer.
Advanced Arpegiator, Midi LFO and Motion Capture functions 8)
Aluminium Body
D Beam controller
Push Button Joystick
16 buttons only 8 of which are grouped like channel controls but on the other side of the mixer :?
Crossfader, which controls two midi messages at once
