Good luck to all of you. This country needs your city in one piece. So does the rest of the world. You are one of the most significant sources of history/culture for our young country. You have my prayers as well.

Damn. Any Abletoners who live there I'll pray for you and families safety. Low land flooding is #1 cause of death in a hurricane. I'd say to anyone there ... get the fuck out if you can or get to high ground.
Every situation(1) should be confronted with its opposite(2) to come to a better situation(3).

Yes. Get the fuck out, and bring, help, encourage every one you can. We are given certain graces that people don't always have the luxury of sometimes. We should honor our luck, and our opportunity with action when we can.

After just having witnessed the relatively 'weak' version of Katrina, I am definitely getting the hell out if a category three or greater storm ever comes this way again. I fear that the destruction brought on by Katrina could rival or surpass the devastating asian tsunami of dec. 26th.

it will likely be bad, but not on a scale of the tsunami, or maybe not even quite as bad as Andrew in S. FL ..... the Big Easy will not get the full brunt of the winds, the major problem will be the storm surge and the Gulf, Mississippi River and Lake Ponchartrain on three sides.

as big and as powerful as Katrina is, it's not going to cause the kind of destruction that happened due to the tsunami, which completely obliterated whole towns down to the foundations. even the mega-monster Cat 5 hurricanes that hit the U.S. ('35 FL Keys hurricane, Camille in '69) only did that kind of damage in a relatively small area near the eye.

Anywayzzzz

Looks like from the news today (Monday) things weren't 'as' bad as predicted - any reports from that area?

I'm originally from Mississippi and remember the tornado storms and warnings and what-not

hope all is well and injury's and casualities are minimal

peace

my whole family and i lost everything

our houses, cars
i lost the club i had a residency at
my school, desktop computer

im moving to omaha because i have no choice

i have no job, there will be no electricity or water for weeks, it could take weeks to build new pumps to suck out the water in our neighborhoods. the looters are blowing up all the atms and stealing the money. there will be no gas. etc etc.

the news is spinning the story saying new orleans did not get hit, and its true because the city dynamited the levees at all the residential areas so the French Quarter and the Central Business District wouldnt flood

if you want to see whats really going on, go to www.wdsu.com and watch the live video feed of homes under 12 feet of water and people being helicoptered out from their roofs.

wish me luck, and if anyone knows of any gigs in the nebraska area, let me know.

dang, sounds pretty bleak blake. I live in a flood zone area but I still coudn't fathom what it would be like to have 8 or 9 feet of water in my house. Best of luck in your new endeavor.
