Not true --- I've had to change batteries in the LV1 after about 2 months.
fair enough, I've had mine for about 6 months and havent had to change batts yet, but to be fair I havent been using them much lately ... been too consumed in getting tunes finished for release to even switch them on!
But even 2 months aint too bad i guess.

That's right - and I often didn't switch them off when taking a break.... I recommend doing that always and to get reasonably expensive batteries.

Really??? have you tried mega longlife batteries, the ones that are twice as expensive as the rest? Maybe that'll help.

I bought a wall wart from faderfox, he build one with to outputs, so i can feed both of my faderfox devices. I am not shure if he also have some for usa (110v). But, if you are interested, write a mail to him...

What disturbs me more than battery life is the fact that the box they're in has a screw on top..... means you absolutely have to have a screwdriver to open them.... one more thing to worry about-
did anyone say they believe there are going to be USB Faderfoxes, bus powered?

What would be great would be if they switched over to endless rotary encoders.
Now you need to mute the knobs and turn them so they match the onscreen position if you want to avoid parameter jumps.
But maybe that isn't as much of a pain as it sounds?

If they go to usb and are distributed in the us I will be the first in line to own these.
Otherwise I hope that making my own controller ends up being not too much work.

iv heard of someone developing a new controller usb powered here in the usa, to be ready soon...but sometimes things end up takeing time...
(controller built for live!)
and yup the spendy batteries last 1 month for me and my LV1. i'll go get a plug from the electronics store soon...
but they do last a longtime once it starts to blink....

Just out of curiosity -
what are the midi commands sent to move the scene or track when you move the knob? Are they mappable in Ableton? If so, I haven't found it yet.

Unfortunately the track select isn't mapable (please Ableton - fix that!). What the Faderfox does is that it sends out different note ons as you turn the knob in track select mode. The notes has to be hard mapped to the track select slot in each track.
They also silently remap the joystick, fire selected clip etc to be different notes/CCs depending on the position of the track select knob.
That is how they simulate all the track local functions.

about the batteries
invest in a 'battery charger' not too expensive and some rechargable batteries.
moine does aa, aaa and 9 volt so I can recharge the batteries from my tv and video remotes when they run out.
you get about 1000 charges out of a set of these batteries.
NEVER buy disposable batteries.
I also am quite fond of my LV1 even though I neglect it a bit lately
