My first "studio" set-up circa 1989:

A Commodore 64 with some silly Kawsaki synthesizer program...

A Casio SK5 sampler...

Some other doofy Casio keyboard...

A Radio Shack reverb...

A cheap $6.99 plastic microphone and a portable cassette deck.

Ah....the memories.

The screen eventually burnt out on the Atari and no one could seem to be able to fix it and I gave up, rather than buy a new monitor they were hard to find back then

my first was a boss dr 660 drumbox and a roland s-550 rack sampler! oh, and i had a half-busted kawai k4 to control the sampler.
some day i'll draw out a "flowchart" of my different studios! man, i couldve bought a mansion with what i've spent thru the years if live 5.0 was out in 1993! =)
nyquist theorem and nyquil...

are we talking 'studio' or .. capable of making a noise ?

I used to run the below into a fostex via some really shit radio shack effects and use tons of bounces. that was about 1986
I used to sequence the casio using the 505, I assigned midi notes to the drums and that was my sequencer AND drum machine!!!

the greengate DS3 and Apple IIe is a whole other story

I did gigs with that setup ! 8O apart from the apple - that was going nowhere.

the 505 and casio were some hot high tech shit to me then. took me 2 years to pay off that drum machine

just looking at the picture now still makes me feel sick. god I hate those drum samples. The casio still rocks
