Personally I'd like to see more than just simple one-clip video playback.
I'm desperately waiting for something that can do basic video editing as well as sound - there's nothing out there that does more than simple playback (correct me if I'm wrong, but I've looked at ProTools, Logic, Cubase, Nuendo..)
As processors get faster etc., I reckon a true multimedia performance system (that let's you be the DJ AND the VJ) could be the next killer app.
Just my two pennies worth

I just started using Motion 2 for video creation. Although it doesn't incorporate an audio editor, its integration of audio is superb. I'm now dragging my Live tracks into Motion to sync everything up. It even sees your iTunes smart playlists!
I'm DJ/VJing with Live and Arkaos VJ. They work superbly together. I suppose one day everything will be integrated, just like Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign are running into each other.
Roll on Macintels...

simple video playback window
...to get it in first line again:
I also set to music. And Live is a growing love for me. But in this case I can Live only use as pattern sequencer, rendering all out and make the rest in Samplitude.
I could imagine the desitions: maybe it's not "live" anymore or maybe users add many new requests (i.e. "the time shifts when I change tempo!"
but promised: not from me.
btw:
I tried Fruityloops with its plugin-plugin-video feature. It's heaviest CPU sucker und i got only some still pictures now and then.. not a solution at all!

Just as a workaround for the moment for those on the PC - seems you can use DMI at SmartElectronix plug to trigger Winamp video playback (and with the correct plugs and codecs that means pretty much any video stream)

Haven't tested it - but gimme 5 minutes
EDIT: Works well in Live 4.14 & the old Winamp 2.91 (Winamp 5 is a bit resource heavy) - just make sure you use VWBvstB.dll as the other dll results in a spectacular crash.

Thank you very mutch! It does run here in a short test. Hopefully it is not too spongy in timing...Nod wrote:Just as a workaround for the moment for those on the PC

Nod, do you mean it is better to install winamp 2.91?
good performance is important in this condition...

Yeah Winamp 5 uses a lot more resources than 2.91 - and given how much Live currently uses any way of keeping the overhead down is good. Winamp 2.91 video playback uses approx 2-5% of my CPU - P4 2.6C. There are also a ton of plugs for Winamp that'll let you playback various formats.Akkust wrote: Thank you very mutch! As far as I can tell the plug runs a lot better under 4.14 than 5.02 - in 4.14 you can scrub playback with the cursor and it will also loop a section of video correctly. Unfortunately in 5.02 the new transport system, which is seriously NOT an improvement anyway IMHO, doesn't seem to send out the correct timestamps to the plug, tho' it will play properly when started from the beginning, and looping causes the video to return to the start and then loop for the desired length.
Obviously timecode sync to 3rd party video plugs isn't exactly going to be a priority issue for the Abe's given the current buglist but for those with 4.14 it at least means we can use our fave application for some track to picture work/sound design.
Yep...another vote for VIDEO in Live here!gomi wrote: Sony Vegas.

gomi - I use Vegas Movie Studio & LOVE IT. To complete the circle....Live with Video would be sweeter than candy.
