What is sorely needed is a combination of Trigger and Toggle - "Triggle" mode. If you do a search, this has been a requested feature for a while. It would turn Live into a far more useable live looping machine: One button for record/play/stop.
Yes I agree. I've been dealing with the dilemma you describe. First I went to toggle so I could stop loops with the same pad/key, then back to trigger so I could have playback continue after recording live. Would like the best of both worlds.

If you are on PC it may be one option.

stick it on a track and set it to 4 bars or whatever record into it and it makes a seamless loop, if you like the loop then record it into a live clip.
Key fact : remember that the looper is an effect, so if you want to record a clip of it you need use a different track to 'sample' the output.

just use 'audio input from' on a different track.

click the link in my sig to get it. you can donate me money if you use it more than 23 times, or something.
sounds good man, i'll check it out. As far as im concerned sef-promote as much as you like, its always good to hear about new things in the freeware fx world.

or more importantly is there any way to have the footswitch always trigger recording in whatever audio track is selected at the time?
I believe all you need to do is mao your footswitch to the session record button. Any chance you know why my sustain pedal that I am using as a looper is recording like a split second after I press it and messing up loops?

Have you seen the new blog entry about Binkbeats? He shares a lot about his setup.

Hey there, I've started using his plugin. It works, except from the Quantize function. The quantization automation doesn't seem to trigger quatization button in the plugin. All other automations I draw in work fine, except this one. Quantization only happens if I manually press the button. Can anybody help? Many thanks
