About multiple crossfaders: What about an X-Y crossfader, with the addition of right-clicking effects parameters & linking them to points on the crossfader through a drop-down?

And about an instant-sends button, I have this set up on my X-Station: When I want to go all-delay or cut between clean & supatrigga'd sounds I use spare preset banks on the X-Station. I have one for each channel where a pair of buttons together sends a mute signal [CC with 0 value] to the respective channel's volume and a maxed send signal [CC with 127 value]. To cut them out, I just hit a bank select button to toggle to a new surface where the same buttons do the exact opposite. If a complete drop of the dry signal is too much, then you can customize the CC value that gets sent-just watch for the right number in yr controller display as you move the channel fader. You can also set the amount the buttons "step through" as you press them, which would allow for quickly toggling from 25% to 50%, etc. Or, use a strip of 8 channel buttons where 1&2 toggle 25% send, 3&4 toggle 50%, 5&6 toggle 75%, etc. I use all 40 banks for different button commands.

The X-Y w/effects add is interesting. I can see where it's useful, but if you have a lot of effects, your pulldown could be an unwieldy long list.

I get the MIDI setup, but I think it demonstrates the utility of a send 'toggle': wouldn't it be so much easier to just push one button? :)

Here are more ideas/wish items:

0) "Certified Live" compatible companion programs. Not all programs used with live are rewire, some are MIDI yokes, editors, etc. The idea would be that developers could somehow get a 'stamp of approval' where tests are run to demonstrate their apps work with Live.

1) 'integrated' full featured HID to MIDI Plogue Bidule has a wonderful full keyboard mapping capability. Rejoice (fireballtrailers.com) is freeware with a wonderful joystick/other HID device mapping capability [it is windows only, however]. If this sort of thing was built into Live, that would be very good.

2) Full featured 'companion' MIDI yokes. The very simple loopbe1 midi yoke from http://nerds.de is what I use [it is windows only]. There is now a loopbe30 with many more channels. It is very simple and straightforward, not as flexible as some, but very quick to set up. There is also ipMIDI from the same developer, which supports MIDI over LAN (wireless or cabled).

wishes granted so far

0) Find out what that 'poof' bug is, it's kind of scary.

Wish Granted, never has happened since 5.2.1

1) Right click copy/paste of clips.

Wish granted. YAY!

2) Leverage the 'lessons' feature by being able to pull up a text editor that takes a file name on the command line (same as one does with audio clips) and create text lyrics/notes/etc on the fly, then save them in the same manner the 'lessons' text gets saved, where the input is 'wrapped' with the correct Live-specific start/end markers.

haven't checked this. There's more info on wiki etc on how to do this, though.

3) Multiply cross faders. You would right click at the bottom of the session view, and select 'add xfade pair'-- C/D. E/F etc could be added. Limit it to whatever is prudent, 3 rows would be fine.

nah, didn't see this...

4) Scene level follow, just like clips, i.e. play this scene 4 times then increment to next.

have to experiment more, maybe done more easily in 6.

5) More automated latency adjust.

Wish granted

6) "Expendable track" selections. Designate that at a give cpu threshold, it's ok to stop clips/mute a track. Also, to be able to assign MIDI failover signal upon pressing space: seems good for "got to kill the set, send a signal to something else to start playing while the sync is still there".

there is the 'simulate' thing, which is related to this

7) Send 'toggle' buttons for each send, a little dot in the middle of the knob, mebbe.

not exactly, but there is 'send activation', which is similar and can serve a similar purpose.

feel free to tell me I'm missing stuff that I wished for.

MULTIPLE INSTANCES! Two Live instances that can be synced! YAY.
