Many clubs have pioneer 1000s so they are standard. 3d is great but you can't actually get away with calling pioneer sub standard. Thats speaking from too much internet and not enough playing out.

Actually, it was speaking from having owned several Pioneer mixers, and then switching to Allen & Heath for the sound quality.

Just because something is commonly found in clubs, doesn't mean it is the best. It doesn't even prove it's good. The Pioneer 500 used to be a "standard", but its a piece of junk compared to a Xone 62.... or 92... or even a Rane 2016.


Alright.... so maybe Pioneer released the 1000, which was the first Pioneer mixer to have sound quality that can begin to compete with Allen & Heath... but that is one mixer.

Do you think this 800 will be on the same level? I certainly don't think it will.

I think that the DJM800 sound quality will be comparable to that of the DJM1000, just because they seem to have much in common (both are digital, dsp-based mixers).

You're right when you say that the DJM500 sound quality is bad.

yeah, the A&H seem to handle overdriven signals and distortion much more musically than the Pioneers. I've never heard a 1000 though.

I'm sticking to A&H. Plus, I don't see how one can trigger clips on this new Pioneer mixer. Looks to me like you still need to have a MIDI controller attached to make this truly work. That kinda blows (unless I'm not seeing all the capabilities this thing has).

I am a huge fan of A&H but the DJM1000 has a sound quality that might even beat the Xone 92 and thus probably the Xone 3D.

Yes trust me, its on par if not slightly better...For instance yesterday night I was at Queen (the legendary club in Paris) and before Christmas they had a Rodec and the sound was not so crisp and now they have a DJM1000 and the sound is sure as hell 10 times better and yet Rodec is already a top ass mixer!

One thing I hate about the Dj 600 is the filter is auto Why can't it be assignable to a knob and let the dj control the amount..thena stupid lfo.
Maybe I am wrong..Does this 800 fix this?

Well I got my DJM-800 and let me tell you it is the same sound quality as the DJM-1000.. Internally it is using the same Audio Bus... Pretty damn sweet.

No it doesn't....

Yesterday afternoon I went to Guitar Center and they had a DJM-800 hooked up to two CDJs. Currently I use Xone 62 and I want to change my mixer to a midi capable one. Anyways here's my take on DJM-800 as compared to DJM-600.

Sound Color FX: Harmonic, Sweep, Crush, Filter
Beat Effects: Compared to DJM-600, they added more...Rev Dly, Phaser, Robot, Chorus, Roll, Rev Roll
Fader Start: 1 2 3 4
Two mic inputs

DJM 600 brand new price: $900.00 total
DJM 800 brand new price: $1550.00 + tax

In a club environment I don't think the crowd will notice much difference in sound quality between the DJM-600 & DJM-800. The Harmonic was kinda cool....I guess one can change key's...from C to C# etc. The Sweep, Crush and Filter(why two times) was nothing special.

I wonder if it it worth paying $750 - $800 extra for DJM-800 compared to DJM-600. I know DJM-800 has midi. Also I guess Pioneer is trying to make the Sweep, Filter in Sound Color FX sound like the VCF filters in Xone 62, 92 etc., but it is not even close to producing those warm analog clean sound.

Anyways I will wait until Xone 3D is out in the market, play with it.... and then decide.

Thats where Pioneer wins hands down over Allen & Heath.

Think about this... How many effects are there in Live? Certainly, with the Xone 3D, you can really tap into Ableton's plugin effects and its ability to route and automate those effects even if you're using CDs or vinyl. I don't see Pioneer as a solution to using Ableton in a live setting, although it is still an amazing mixer. I will most definitely be getting the Xone 3D, but that is my own agenda...
