New Compact MOTU Interface
2 less pre's, 96khz instead of 192khz, no ADAT i/o, no AES/EBU, or Wordclock.rahlo wrote:yup. I'm in! The fact that it'ws smaller than the traveler makes it a no brainer for me. The traveler has been flawless, but this unit looks lit it is basically the traveler with 2 less pres, and the size is even better for me and my road rig!
but the UltraLite has 2 MORE analog outs.
as i recall you don't use ANY of those extra features the Traveller has, Rahlo. Motu hit a homerun with this.
I wouldn't be surprised if Kid Beyond traded in his Traveller for an UltraLite as well. If nothing else it would make a great low-cost backup soundcard for the riggors of the road.

Dang! Thanks for posting this link...
This interface looks just about right to me... should pair well with the Yamaha MPS5 monitors I just picked up!
Price vs. performance this looks like the best solution I have seen...
Anyways, I wanted to share this link for an amazing set I have been listening to this afternoon while catching up on chores I neglected while celebrating my birthday this weekend...

Go under the audio section, then select the Anders Ilar November 2004 mixset.
Fabulous minimal/tech-nouse mix...
My birthday gift to you all!

You're right dude, I don't use the extra features at all! My needs are pretty basic right now, and that small of a unit is even better for my road needs than the traveler.
Unless that Apogee Ensemble is everything you and I thought it'd be (in which case I'll sell the traveler), my traveler will be in the studio only—once I get my hands on this!
Yo, did your MacBook Pro come in yet?

Rahlo,
macbook pro, not yet.
my orderstatus says it will ship on Mar 14 or sooner.
i like the fact that the UltraLite is chainable.
2 units gives you 24 analog outs for $1100.
thats ridiculous!!!!
re: Apogee.
it sits somewhere between the mini series (mini-me, mini-dac) and the Rosetta series. Good for the money, but not a Rosetta.

If you're still down, I still wanna do that big comparison we talked about doing. Now, we have a new interface to throw in with the others though!AdamJay wrote:Rahlo,

I could be wrong, but I think it's going to be a while before we see this unit for actual purchase.
example, sweetwater was the first to advertise the axiom, it is not even released yet. Also, you can't get info about it from motu which makes me believe that it is way too new to expect to get one anytime soon.
I have a "feeler" out with sweetwater but after 60-some hours, nothing yet
