my first headphones i ever got were the 7506s. lasted for 8 years and finally blew on one side. still used em until i got suckered and bought the 700s. WORST mistake i ever made. those are CRAP! like so many others, mine cracked at the hinges and finally just broke entirely. not to mention they are HEAVY. made my ears hurt from the weight.

keep in mind i BABY my headphones. no tossing them around or anything like that. but the 700s didn't even last a year, whereas the 7506s lasted over 8. so guess what i am using now?

I got the black ones - Platinum's chill, they matched GC's price $99 - I was on capital hill and there they were - easy

Check out the Gi and Ti's.

700 is rubbish, badly built ( friend of mine had DJ shop, lots of returns, problems with them) sound is colored.
Get real headphones - HD 25

The sennheisers are a good choice too. I've read lots of good opinions on them, and seem to be more comfortable than the 7506 (to me at least, they make me tired after long usage).

after 15 years of 7506, i switched to hd 280's and i'm not looking back...

I don't like the 700's for production in studio. The 700's slide around alot. that's fine for Djing, they are very flexible, you can pull them off one ear or the other to mix. but in the studio I want a set of headphones that holds onto my head better than that.

This not even a fair compareson.

The 700's are plastic crap. I am still confused as to why people buy them.

7506's are all I use..they're gold!!

ive gone through about a pair a year of the mdrv700's in the past 7 years

they keep breaking at the joint. i used the 600s for years before that and always carry a pair of the 600s for back up...because i know the 700s will break sooner or later and dont want to be in a jam with a packed floor.

a friend of mine swears by the mdrv 900s....same build as the 600 (color too) and better sound than both the 600 and 700.

they are little more expensive, but im probably gonna pick a a pair in the next week or too.

just broke another pair of 700s saturday night.

My song writing partner and I used the MDR 7506's for years and thought they sounded good but we always complained of ear fatigue. They are a little bright around 2khz - 3khz. Just enough to give me a headache. We both switched to Ultrasone Proline 650's and I am headache free. The bass response is lush but not boomy. The highs are flat and open sounding. The drivers a set slightly off axis to your ear canal so your eardrums don't get reamed when you crank them up.
They are the best sounding headphones I have ever used. The Beyerdynamics were a close 2nd when I compared them to others like Sennheiser and Sony and AKG.
