For the record you shouldn't capatalize the word god unless you are specifically refering to the god of the Jews or the Christians.
And the Muslims.

Also, some Jews think you should not say the name of God in Hebrew, and some have extended this to the point where they write (and say) G-D (gee-dee) instead of God.

Gee Dee like Geddy Lee? Wow that is so cool. Jewish people are so cool!

(hangs head in shame)

"Bailiff, whack his pee-pee!"

No offense intended to anyone...

Right, it makes it easier to figure out who to bash for their religious beliefs...as we all know, it's ok to bash christians and jews, but never commit the sin of bashing anyone else for their beliefs/lifestyle. And keep in mind that only christians and jews capitalize the word God!

I'm Muslim, and I feel left out by this comment. Due to my hurt feelings, I plan on starting a jihad that will eventually wipe you and all your seed from the face of the planet. Have a nice day.

Next time you're out on the town, walk up to the hottest chick in the joint, firmly grabbing your crotch and use that line.

Think of it as a science experiment. See what happens.

Are you really a Muslim? I don't think using the word Jihad synonymously with 'Holy War' makes sense. It's connotations are much more wide-reaching than just 'holy war', and even when it comes close, I think 'just war' or 'righteous war' is a better term...

Thanks much. I think the last few weeks have shown how well the Danes do with Muslims, so I appreciate the lecture. DOH! :)

All slams aside, growing up as in a Muslim household has left me with a very strange view of Islam. On one hand, there are a lot of cool things about the religion. On the other, the fanatics have bastardized the religion into some really disgusting ways, like treatment of women, and the whole idea of killing in the name of Allah. (WTF?)

So to answer your question, I was born into a Muslim famiy. Am I still a Muslim? Well, that depends on who you ask... Probably not in the traditional sense.

As for Jihad, I use that term in as many ludicrious ways I can. It's a silly word, and in fact a total oxymoron, as there is NO such thing as a righteous or holy war. There's murder, and then there's polically-sanctioned murder. But at the end of the day, it's still killing, and anyone who does it is still going straight to hell.

If you believe in that sort of thing.

Hehe. Well. Yes. I don't write for Jyllands-Posten or any other islamophobic publication... I do study Arabic Language and Culture at the University of Copenhagen, though...

Ain't that the truth... It's hard for me to see how Rumi, Yunus Emre, and all the classical scholars have anything to do with Hizb ut-Tahrir, Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas and their ilk (Have you ever read any of Hamas' publications? It's utterly, utterly insane - bordering on David Icke Lizardmen conspiracies). There are a lot of problems with Islam and a lot of beauty in it as well.

(So it's like every other religion I've ever heard or read about, then)

I'm not sure we disagree, really, war is hell. It's horrible. But I'm afraid it will happen and it will HAVE to happen from time. There's a verse in the Qur'an I think is rather elegant:
2:190 Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loveth not transgressors.
I hope that makes sense.

yes.

let's just say that the schizophrenic is one who is enlightened, one who has seen the TRUE face of the vast, infinite, unknowable creator and destroyer of all that is and is not.
Don't try to think about these things too much, just make your music (carry water and chop wood, in other words....)
and be happy with your puny, temporary, infinitesmal existence, lest you, too, get a glimpse of this "god" of which you speak
and be thankful for the fact that you have been, for whatever reason, looked kindly upon and blessed in so many ways.

I pray to always see the happy, loving, faces of the creator smiling kindly down upon me and my activities......
and I pray that I may never see those other faces which are infinite in number.

I got a bone to pick with this statement. Too many people have died due to ignorance. I think ignorance is death, quite honeslty.

Now knowing what you don't know...well, that's the first step toward bliss.

Again, my two cents.
