Welcome!
I'm living in Ottawa these days, but I'm actually in Montreal this weekend.
Did anybody here take advantage of MUTEK this year? I missed it because of work.

Im from Brossard, dont hate on the dirty south shore

I went to both MUTEK ableton seminars, really informative, I learned alot. I was suprised how many Live users there are here. Im only starting to put a DJ set together now that I got my MacBook, but before on my MacMini I was mostly doin production and triggering samples for my bands live shows. We should get a party goin in Montreal like warper in New York.

Bonjour everyone
Putting a party together sounds like a great idea for those who are having a hard time breaking into the scene. In fact, that's sort of how Ministry of Sound started, no?

Allo,
MUTEK was nice except for slub soda saturday night which kinda blew. Beautiful weather at the exceptionnally good sounding outdoor piknik which was solid from Magda till the end. Fonderie was excellent as well.
Thats our ableton music here if you want to chk us out:

hmmmm, where is there a cheap or free place.... O Patro Vys is too expensive, but intimate venue. Le Petit Cabaret is pretty cool, nice lights, $150 i think. Hmmm, anyone else? I better start gettin productive and finishing something....

Well, to invest as little money as possible, Le Petit Cabaret sounds like a good go. I've never visited, where is it?
Other options:
Blizzarts and / or the Blue Dog will usually show local talent. It's good too, because even if you don't pull in a ton of people, other folks will still go to those joints so it's gonna be reasonably full anyways.
Cafe Campus is OK if you're expecting a big crowd. It's tough to get booked at Le Swimming though...
There's a joint on St Laurent, across from a Spanish or Portugese community centre... It's halfway to Club Mile End (another fine establishment for house music) from Mont Royal. It's a pretty left, folksy joint but they'll book any sort of "chin stroker" electronic music, nothing too dancey or anything. Perfect for the Ambient or trip hop producers - I just wish I could remember the damn name!!!

Blizzarts is a nice intimate setting. Le petit cabaret is on papineau i think. I dont care what kinda sounds there are because I still havent found my niche lol, it'll jus be cool to meet other Live users in a not so formal setting.

Hi / Bonjour,
Just want to let you know that I am now officialy a member of the Ableton family...
Since I went to the Live workshops at Mutek 2006, I explore and work a lot with the software. It became my only (creative) tool. I like it!
If anything is about to happens in our province of Quebec for Live users, please post a reply here to let everyone know...
