I thought that would have been a good name too!

So, I dunno, I'd have to put your imagined face on a whole new handle? Hmmm, s'pose I'll be able to live with it... SDM's gonna be a hard act to follow though, it's definitely unforgettable.

I changed my forum handle. Used to be called Montrealbreaks. But, it was a shortsighted name. I moved away from Montreal and was stuck with a name that didn't fit.

So, I took on M. Bréqs instead.

It's a very poor spelling of "Breaks" in phony-phonetic French, and it's derived from my old name. The "M." prefix is short for Monsieur, or Mr. I suppose "Mr. Breaks" is a little arrogant for a breakbeat producer, but I take the piss out of myself with such a ridiculously poor interpretation. It's like those French knights in Monty Python movies who speak English but with an "outrageous accent".

My point is that unless you have something in mind already, you might wanna pick something similar, or derived from your old name - that way there's still a connection. As SD McB, you've got a reputation as an insightful (and entertaining) poster. With a new name, you'll give a lot of that up and have to start over - if that matters to you at all.

I decided to say screw it, Mr. Breaks.

700 is a nice clean number.

I've been making music under the name Hidden Driveways for the last 10 years. It's the real me. Feels good to be home!

Thanks for indulging me everybody.

he he, maybe we should - it coincides with the new tech support guys so we can use our new handles to give them the runaround!

Personally, "Sales Dude McBoob" is one of the familiar funny things around here and it will be a shame to see it go

Every new name should have "Mc" incorporated somehow.

Alas! McBoob is dead! Long live McBoob!

Actually Sausage this is an entirely relevant topic concerning issues of forum identity, community, and to quote "24Hour Party People" have you never heard of the interplay of signs and signifiers???? :D

I see it has begun.

I may pass on this one, I've only this one login my entire time here. As a matter of fact, not just here, but on every board I post on I use the same name. I kind of got the willies thinking about breaking that tradition.
