I just arrived in Santa Cruz, will be around until November. Taking off to BRC this week, but won't bring my laptop for obvious reasons.

AKAIK nothing yet, I'd like to get something started, just find a place for people to set up gear and make noise, no expectations just share tips and put grooves together. Does anyone have a space we can set up in? My studio's too small for more than 2 people and my neighbor above the living room is a serious twat.
I've got a friend in town this weekend, next weekend or sometime after? My rig is portable.

Man that sounds great. Unfortunately I don't have access to a good space either. Surely someone around here has (or knows of) a decent place to make music?! Or are you all (like me) stuck in tiny little rooms with paper-thin walls?

Paper thin walls seems to be an understatement. sheesh...this totally sucks. I just moved to the area recently and it's like living with sheets for walls.....

There's a big room at Lennon Studios (in SOMA) that might work - there's a PA and plenty of room for folks to set up laptops, controllers, etc. It's only $60 for three hours - if we had a decent-sized group and everyone chipped in, it would be relatively cheap.
And no complaints from the neighbors.

OK, DeadlyKungFu has found us a space (in the Mission, not Lennon), and we have tentative dates of either 10/21 or 10/28. PM either myself or DeadlyKungFu for details and let us know if you have a date preference.

I should have updated this thread earlier, but it slipped my mind until I noticed how many views it had. DeadlyKungFu has set up a Google group for organizing bay area jams and we've already had a few in SF. Very ad hoc, very eclectic, and very fun. PM DeadlyKungFu or myself if you'd like to be added to the group.
