I'm going to be switching to Logic by the end of the year because it is pretty much guaranteed to be a better studio tool than Live for a long time. Logic and Live will both continue to get better, but for major studio work Logic is a dedicated DAW, whereas Live is now split between DAW and live performance beast.
There's only so many development hours available, and I would rather Ableton spend that time almost exclusively on live performance tools, not riding the fence with DAW/Live tools. True, there doesn't have to be such a separation of live/studio, but there are many things that are pretty exlcusive to one or the other.
For instance, I would like to see full-on session view automation tracks, for automatiing other tracks, but that's not gonna be too useful in arrange view.
Keep Live live, and let the established DAWs handle that stuff - that's what I say, anyway!
I do not completely agree.
I think many Live users, like I am, are not using Live for Live Performances but for its revolutionary approach. As a DAW (too much a generic umbrella term) Live is good even today. I switch back and forth from Session and Arrangement view, my creation time is faster and the possibilities more than ever.
Session view is a scratch pad, to test your ideas, then you refine them using clips/scene capabilities and then you can consolidate all in the arragenment view. Is this that makes Live what it is. I would not leave other DAW do the DAW and Live play Live.
Live needs enhancements :
1. MIDI
2. Audio e VST plugin compatibility
3. Arrangement view
My 2 cents
