Starting Over - Need free Adare / anti virus stuff
Avast is the bomb for Windows AV. And it's free. It's all I use on windows. I try not to use windows any more... I'm a mac guy now.
<rant>
To the guy who said that AV vendors create viruses as well to sell their products... remember the groundbreaking OSX "viruses" a few months back? That was all PR whipped up by Symantec who were launching a marketing campaign to get OSX users to buy AV software from them. None of those "viruses" were anything worth mentioning, it was all a beat up. Nice try Symantec. No cigar. Notice how OSX users haven't been overrun by the nasty viruses that Symantec gave severe warnings about? Gee what a surprise.

I use 3 things, and i never ever have problems..
1) AVG Free Antivirus http://free.grisoft.com
Free Antivirus programs, updated frequently, and runs every morning
2) Spybot Search & Destroy http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html
Free Spyware detector, updated frequently, and runs on boot
3) Symantec Norton Ghost
http://www.symantec.com/home_homeoffice ... id=ghost10
$70 for this Disk Image Utility.. it takes an image of the drive, and compresses it... I burn it to a DVD for backup, and can restore the drive or the system back to any previous state
I never ever have a problem, and i can restore anytime I want (20-30 min)...
