A different workflow would be the obvious answer.

It's been a bit since I've used a tracker but they're very immediate and lend themselves well to programming percussion by triggering samples.
yeah but with live 5 which he has I don't think he's going to find anything more immediate than that. but it will give him a different kind of work flow. like I said it will only give him a different kind of interface which may or may not suite him.

:lol: Fair enough. Thanks for the advice.

I love the "workflow" in Live - really gets my creative jiuices flowing ... so I probably don't need to look at trackers.

i have finally figured out why so many drill n bass type artists use trackers. its all about the quickness of the sequencing. no drawing notes with your mouse. all keyboard shortcuts for programming. i still havent REALLY sit down and figured out how to use a tracker. but thats what i understand from the tutorials ive been through.

yeah!

I'm using trackers since 14 years. Renoise is my babe today (after ft2 and buzz (well, I like the movement to buzzle and buze a lot)).
It seems that I never ever will get the 'sweet kiss' for composing my music from left to right. I just love to compose from up to down :). So Live is just the playground for me, it flows into the tracker at the end.

Renoise = masterpiece!

Another reNoise user here. Can't say enough about the program (if trackers are your thing)
hopefully they will add rewire, this will be amazing
Not quite the same as reNoise, but if you want to check out a tracker try reVisit (if your on windows)
http://www.kvraudio.com/get/1048.html

You can use it as a VST in live, so now you can get the best of both worlds.
