can you use any old pots and faders or do you need specific types to comply with the midi units.

Actually, I cheated a little, the kills are part of the EQ high, mid and low chain, so effectivly, by killing :D the kills you're turning the same channel as the pots down to 0 and by turning them on, it will resume at what ever value you had the pots set at last.
Great idea!
So the switches are connected in series with the pots? How exactly?

I actually put it all into an instructable, and I have the complete parts listing in there in addition to some better instructions.
