Touch-numbers... well if it's for collaborative work you'd need four, two touch for two performers.

So, will it be plexiglass? And, lastly, of course, price?

Paws, are you ranting or begging for a smaller screen
It's hard to tell :p

Transparent screens do have the advantage that you can "tape" several layouts to it.
But how is data being handled?
By a standalone app? Driver?
And which data is being handled? Are we just talking about emulated mouse-clicks here?

Nay!

Anyways, I this sounds pretty cool, yes, but I'll believe it when I see it.

It sounds great, can't wait to see it. Bigger screen is better. Then there could be some floating windows that send MIDI controllers to Ableton for example.

I think even two touches would already be great (two hands)
If it works good and is affordable I would buy one.

I don't quite understand it's conept? is it a monitor screen overlay type thing?
How is ableton going to use it? It's only designed for single mouse control.
If it's at a 45deg angle what if the person is not facing exactly in right position(what is that position?) by even an inch, imagine trying to fire a clip, play on your midi keyboard and your midi controllers all without moving? :D
Personally i think this thread is bull/joke! :?

the wacom cintiq 21" isn't multi touch and it uses a pen, but its about 3000-5000 australian depending on where you live and is a crazy little device. but you'd want to be using for art or video editing too to justify the cost.

You guys might be surprised how simple and cheap a device like this actually is. We made one at work this summer, and I think the whole thing is being released open source- DIY. The most expensive element is the projector. Otherwise, it's a piece of plexiglass (as big as you want), a webcam, two pieces of open source software, a few UV LEDs, something to hold thing, and a dimly lit room. Instant super-Lemur- as many touch points as you can fit on a 2x3 foot screen. The only problem is the space required for the thing. It takes a decent distance to get a good clean projection.

I'd guess in a few years we'll see quite a few more multi-touch devices. They're cool toys, but frankly, I don't think they offer the tactile feedback people like musicians are used to- Maybe just my preference.

Sure thing. Honestly, I wasn't really involved with this specific project, but here's their work. I think they wanna blow shit up with it. Let's make music/art instead.
