whenever I get the urge to upgrade I remind myself that many people have created better stuff with a lot less.

I read the manuals of my old gear. As soon as I get through the fellating intro (Congratulations on your purchase of the...) I feel better already. Then I read on a bit further and find new things the old stuff can do.

You can get more than 800 of any currency for that on eBay. G4 Mac Minis are still going for 3-400. Mac users are strange like that!
Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.

But I've changed my mind. I love my G5. I love that big metal beast! It's been so good to me. I've got everything running smoothly on it and I want to keep it that way.

yah i've seen people successfully sell old g4 towers for more then 1000$..

lots of mac users aren't computer nerds, they see it like an expensive
piece of stereo gear or something.

I don't blame anyone for having trepidation about these units.

I look at it this way: if, in a few months, possible fundamental technical issues have come to light -- then it's possible that in a year or two years, deeper issues may crop up.

Even if these issues aren't real, there's the perception that they're real, which may affect resale values on these units in the years to come.

For many of us, this is our only computer and our live instrument rig so any semblance of flakiness is bad.

Then again, I'm thrifty, and a late, conservative adopter -- so I *would* think this way.

No you are NOT. You are a brother-in-arms who has just overcome a nasty bout of technophilia with neomania-related complications. We of the reality distortion field salute you.

We will now bow our heads for the 12-step prayer...
:D thank you for these kind words! I am still taken back by your ability to have skippped the entire G5 line! (if I am remmembering correctly)

Indeed! :D But I'm jonesin' bad for a MBP right now.

After holding out on a Tibook 500, and taking a interim step to... OOOOh... a GASP! Tibook 800 and still running BLASPHEMY!! OS9, I can't afford one ATM.

Word to the PPC G4 user crews out there! My 2x1.25ghz is kickin' ass still. Ever since I stopped using VSTs so much and started using midi and outboard stuff i can save my CPU for effects. Mmmm effects ::Homer drool::
