the new m-audio firewire 410 looks promising. It won't be out in the uk till end of august, but it looks to me like it will record, do prelisten (and midi) and be bus powered, and leave the usb bus free for control things like gamepads
If anyone trys one I would be interested to hear their experiences

I have a replacement breakout cable for the VX2 w/ headphone out for sale, if anyone is interested. It has never been used. I bought it last year directly from Digigram/Fostex in Norwalk, CA for $120 because Guitar Center had a open box VX2 for sale for $299. I bought the card and when I tried it out it was really noisy so I thought it might have been the breakout cable. That wasn't the problem, the card itself must've been fried. I waited too long to return the cable ( a 2hr drive for me). I will sell it for $60 obo and I still have the receipt. Email me and let me know.

Mic-minimal and All,
The V2 sounds great-
12 ms latency- its has xlr in/out so there is no need for D.I. boxes.
It has a headphone out on the breakout cable as well as digital outs.
But- it only has one set of outputs so no pre-listening.
