I kinda agree. I feel that XP SP1 is about as good as Windows ever got for making music. I'll wait a long time until all the Vista performance tweakers come out and take care of bidness before I jump in. I'll likely wait till I get a dual core CPU also before tackling Vista.

Also, another thing to keep in mind is that I don't really need all the bells ans whistles of Vista. After all the tweaking of XP, it looks a lot like Win95 anyway, so why pay for the upgraded hardware and software and then turn off all the unneeded stuff?

I'm waiting until Vista has been officially released for a few months before I purchase any new computer hardware. That way I get Vista from the beginning and don't have to worry about buying upgrades. Plus, I can make sure my hardware specs are sufficient.

you can drop the J on BJ since his last name fulfills the purpose anyway.

i went from windows 95, to windows XP ...when I saw the spec of the laptop I was salivating, imagining what kind of performance I'd get. Then powered it up and realised [a] XP sucks alot of juice just being on laptops 'bottleneck' performance due to heat/battery issues.

so ya...just a mode for stripping all the bullshit away, and just zoning into whatever apps you need to run this way.

Yeh, if I could strip away MacOS from a macbook pro and just use Windoze, I'd probably buy one.... :)

I like the hardware of those mac lappies but am not a great fan of the OS.

My concerns about Vista are the same - no silly visuals/or any other bloatware that slows it down - including the call home big bro shit that is mentioned in the link above.

Yeah, too bad his business practices are more tuned to a name like Steve Anal-Rape rather than Steve Jobs.

Would also be interesting to know how much of all that eyecandy crap you can turn of, no fading, no flipping, no shades, no rounded corners, no auto updating icons, no UI elements that changes according to use, no menus with icons, give me windows classic look any day, windows reached UI perfection at NT4.0 imo.
if want to turn all the eye candy off i think u might as well stick ith XP

Hahaha sorry, I thought this picture was funny from that link you posted...

They look like they found "the real OS..."
