me too, like tarekith, I "hot-plug" my ultralite with no probs on a macbook 13".

even when live is alreaduy launched, and my live set loaded, sometimes I forgot to plug the soundcard, then I plug it, press "ON", and then live automatically detects it...

in 10 seconds i can press play and have the sound going out without a single hiccup 8)

I had some trouble hot-plugging the Ultralite with an older iMac G5, but the power source on that one was always dodgy so I think that had something to do with it. I haven't had any trouble at all hot-plugging it with my MBP on. I think the only thing the manual mentions about it is to make sure you turn off the ultralite before unplugging it.

^^^ point is, firewire is hot pluggable, always, if a unit fails it's the unit's fault not to follow firewire standards properly.
