Yeah, for MIDI >> Keystrokes, I have another button that punches out the sequence of keys that put the focus on the clips grid. not very elegant, again. I guess I'll try Mackie Mode for the BCR, not sure how that's going to work though.

Um, I'm a little confused - this thread makes numerous references to running Mackie mode on a bcR2000 (R as in Rotary)- How is this possible? It's my understanding that only the bcF2000 (fader version) supports emulation modes. What's the scoop??

just scored a BCR2000 on ebay for $76!!!

can't wait to play with it. from what the folks on here are saying, this should be fun!

I think the BCR has a larger following on this board, most of the talk is on the BCR in Mackie mode, less about the BCF. Don't know what to say, encoders, knobs, Mackie mode, good times.

actually, is there anything out there i can chuck batteries in and in return it provides output power cables to connect to something like the BCR2000?

hmmmm....i think i'll settle for the power cord and a socket!!!

and the BCR has an AC input, so the battery wouldn't help unless you hacked the internals and tapped into the 12V side of things.

Ok, had a play last night - will do the stickers business today

Basically went for a 4 channels DJ setup

Managed to get the buttons to light up when a clip is playing and no light when clip stops. For visual references, it's most excellent (Use Behringer Toggle ON mode and make sure Val1 and Val2 are both 127 (else it won't work) - then set your clips to Launch Mode: Toggle)

Got my CUE buttons right under the Play/Stop buttons

There 4 extra buttons at the bottom right - I use them for Loop Set IN, Loop Set OUT, Loop On and Loop Off - very handy for on the fly looping

What's great is the parameter feedback when you switch groups (A - D) - no jumps, no hassle, visual feedback by just looking at the LEDs. Perfect!

Also programmed 4 buttons to emulate Mackie cursor keys so that I can navigate the grid and highlight clips (hence showing their waveform) without having to play them.
Tried a few mixes and how good it is to be able to view clip after clip to see where they are etc without needing mouse/keyboard. Brillant. (works hand in hand with the on the fly looping buttons)
For Mackie cursor keys:
Choose 4 buttons (preferably in a 'cross' layout' like your cursor keys on a computer keyboard) and program using the Behringer:
1) Note mode
2) Channel x (whatever you decide)
3) Note 96 for up, 97 for down, 98 for left, 99 for right
4) Val1 = 127
5) Val2 = - (n/a)

ps: Make sure Ableton has the BCR2000 as Remote in Midi settings but ALSO as Mackie Control Input. This makes the BCR2000 operates in both normal MIDI controller and Mackie mode *just for those 4 buttons*

For the 24 knobs at the bottom, I divide them in groups of 6 knobs, each 6 for 1 channel
Hence:
knob1 = EQ3 Hi
knob2 = EQ3 Mid
knob3 = EQ3 Lo
knob4 = AutoFilter Lo Pass Freq
knob5 = AutoFilter Hi Pass Freq
Knob6 = FX (whatever you choose)

Repeat for each channel

On Group C, I reassign the 8 top encoders in groups of 2 for Send A & B for each channel.
On Group D, I reassign the 8 top encoders in groups of 2 for FX2 and FX3 for each channel (more FX basically)

On the main group (A), some top encoders are assigned to stuff like Scene knob, master volume, cue volume.

Then I tried using the setup (without stickers/colour indicators nothing) and still managed to pull through it! The LEDs are the ones that really keep you informed of where u are and left things.

Once I colour code this things and get some labels etc on, the fun begins!
