interesting, will need to give this a try.

Had given up on the idea of synching ableton to decks using any other method except pitch control riding.

This lloks like it might be the answer. Does everything stay tight over time - is there any drift out of synch ?

thanks for posting

sorry, had no time to do some things on this one.

last config for ktdrumtrigger was: no ktdrumtrigger ;) i found out that PeakFreak from tobybear works better.

u can find it here:
http://www.tobybear.de/p_midibag.html

how to configure peakfreak is your way, because it depends on your input level, musicstyle ect.pp (for techno it is useful to take the lower frequencies 60-120 Hz or something else). play a little bit. there is no overall(?) configuration.

maybe you u will get constant tempo all the time, maybe not. i mapped a key to the on/off button of the peakfreak (or the track, dont know at this time). before every change from TT to laptop i activate the plugin/track, wait some seconds, and deactivate it. for 3 of 5 trys, it works.

but if you have enough money, buy the new redsound soundbite micro, which do the same thing in - i think - nearly the same way, with some additions ...

hi guys

this seems awesome! But if i understand correctly, you need a souncard which can receive the audio in from tt or cd? So Ecco Indigo dj is out?

i use this config:

with this one i am also able to record from the decks.

any usb/fw soundcard with extra headphones and 2 I/O should work the same way....

does this work with breaks or hiphop?

i'd be surprised if it did... tap seems to recognise 4/4 taps only really. for anything more complicated you're a bit out of luck. the redsound stuff is advertised as working with breaks etc, but in my experience they're not that brilliant for anything non 4/4. they are better than *any* other solution i came across though, and i spent a lot of time about 2 years ago trying to figure this out for a particular project!

there was some software i found at one point that did realtime beat detection and transmitted midi clock, but the cpu hit was too high for my liking. (it was djdecks if anyones interested, but i couldn't see where it still does this... http://djdecks.be/index.php?module=main) theres also a patch for doing this in VVVV but i haven't tried it. (http://vvvv.org/tiki-index.php?page=syfenx+Patchs)

the other problem is getting the sync tight enough. theres a lot of vj software that does beat detection, but if the videos out by a bit you won't really notice. if your kicks are mixed out though, the crowd'll start laughing!!
