Difference between Sampler and Simpler - other than the $200
EXACTLY!let's see... Sampler can import libraries in all these formats:
AKAI S1000,
AKAI S3000,
GigaStudio,
EXS,
SoundFont
(non-encrypted) Kontakt.
i've still been waiting for NI to make Kontakt a UB, and you know what... i'm not even go back to it once they do. my Kontakt and Giga libraries are loading just fine in Sampler.
Sampler will open up a world of oppurtunity for anyone who doesnt already own a sampler like Kontakt. I never liked Kontakt, SAmpler looks to be exactly what Im lookin for.
@thelike5 - for your own sake, stop saying Live is already a sampler, youre making a show of yourself. Have you ever used NI Battery or Kontakt?
Sampler will function like Kontakt- sample mapping, velocity layers, akai and sf2 support, deep editing functions. Its going to be immense.
If we're going to compare Kontakt to Sampler I can assume that Sampler has:
1. a convolution engine
2. a built-in scripting language
3. great granular timestretching
4. multipoint syncable graphical envelopes and step modulators
5. voice grouping and chokes
6. disk streaming and sophisticated dynamic purging for big libraries
7. multiple loop points within a sample
If not, I'll just pay the extra $100 or so and stick with Kontakt.

I realize that, you should have read my whole post. Here's the second sentence:noisetonepause wrote:Sampler is a new product; there's nothing to upgrade from.rbro wrote:Am I correct in assuming there will be no upgrade price for sampler? In other words Live 5 registered users will need to pay the same price for Sampler as a new Live user?

sampler has none of that. though, sampler is much more attractive and intuitive than kontakt.kuniklo wrote:If we're going to compare Kontakt to Sampler I can assume that Sampler has:

that's two worlds.
(and i LOVE kontakt, don't get me wrong)
Does Sampler just ignore the scripting functions from Kontakt libraries then? I can see how Sampler could have all the functions available from older S1000/3000 libraries, but what does it do about parameters specific to Kontakt?
Does it just import the samples and keymappings?
Thanks guys!

kontakt has a terrible gui imo.......i just hate the workflow in it....but it's so freakin powerful.....you can do ten times more than what abe's sampler will do.....granular mode?...that's been done...and done extremely well...by NI...........
can you abe's give us the modulation freedom that kontakt can give?...and the timestretch?.....im guessing the granular synthesis is based on live's engine...not too impressive at all...it sounds like shit.......the only thing i see this sampler having that really stands out is the gui......but at the end of the day..if you want total control.......kontakt still rules.......

This will be some sort of savings. We will reveal this pricing later.
s.
PLEASEHow about a special Live 5 too Live 6 + Operator + Sampler deal if upgraded as a boxed set from version 5.2
My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....

if you want your mac to be crashed 10 times in 1 hour by a plug-in sampler... Kontakt still rules.

Sorry P, but you're a little wrong.peeddrroo wrote:sampler has none of that. though, sampler is much more attractive and intuitive than kontakt.kuniklo wrote:If we're going to compare Kontakt to Sampler I can assume that Sampler has:

3. I've seen granular timestretching in the samplr
4. Clip envelopes baby
6. I think it uses disk streaming, im pretty sure i read that somewhere.
7. In theory you can use clip envelopes on different clips to modulate the loop start/end parameters... along with some of the time control functionality i saw in the preset which had the granular timestretching, but i didnt get some of that stuff it was a bit above my head.
Yeah, it has individual buttons for ram just like audio clips.AdamJay wrote:sampler has a RAM button.sweetjesus wrote: 6. I think it uses disk streaming, im pretty sure i read that somewhere.
leads me to beleive it streams from disk by default, only loads into RAM when you tell it to.
Or you can load them to ram all at once by selecting all samples.
