-mind you: each band can be any type of filter (peak, lowpass etc) right? So you could easily gang up filters to do an x8 filter... Hang on, I'll go try this out, actually...

Yeah and because the Devices allow parallel paths you can (and I have) do (done) multiband effects...

Absolutely one of the most important features that is still missing. It sounds so basic... because it is. When you are using full tracks, you can't tell what is what unless you skip forward a couple of minutes to get past the intro.

My workaround for this has been to drag clips into the Session View before a gig, so that I can click them and skip ahead to listen and identify. Then I'll drag them to the track I want, and play.
yes, Im using a dedicated Queue channel to scrub marker preview and other wise prep tracks. but this is not the same as quick scanning to "feel out" which track is best in realtime as you run thru the tracks
The lack of previw scrub renders the browser useless for DJs.

ok. coming home tonite? it hit me:

single control to mulitiple parameters? Amazing, totally opens up the third dimesion

you guys know what i (we) are talking about.
these are simple, they are additive, like all good Live features
if you combine them with the racks and new control systems and it blows up Live as a DJ platform ...
makes it the best way ever, totally sets it apart from all the other ways
i honestly believe that.

but im really serious about this (not messing around:
please guys. if not by initial release then break form and do a 6.5 with additional features. at the very least: consider getting
control of clips selection without the mouse guys...!!!!
somehow. conceptually. if not these please come up with a better way!

I think we're getting nearer to the death of the mouse.
This new general MIDI mapping (which haven't been able to try out yet, so take it with a grain of salt) can possibly function like mackie control.
In other words, i see no reason why we should'nt have control over the session grid with MIDI.

if we can gain true control over clip selection, clip brace, waveform view and focus with MIDI?
Bring it on. this is the main point, whether thru feature suggesions in that thread or even better ways
bring it. is what we are saying. honestly hoffman 7 is too long to wait, it would be a shame for the DJ world (again, which is thousands)

I disagree. There's HUGE potential for innovative DJs that can think 'outside the box'. Now even more so with 6 and Sampler, macros, etc.
Yes, it's still missing a few features (I'd really like metadata search support), but I don't see the Abes wanting to make Live a Traktor wannabe.

I think enlightenment will come next year with Live 7 - this year we will be having all the major excitements about all the new stuff, next year I think we'll get all the little workflow things and from that moment it will all gel and we will be in Musical Nirvana - for now the sheer fact of physical hours coding to get it all in has meant we still have alot of silly little things to whinge about, hopefully next year will see the end of that!
or am I being an idealist??

I wonder how much overall investment in development went in to multi processor support. I'd be willing to bet that this work ate into a lot alternative development work. Hopefully we won't see this kind of fundamental system changes required for Live 7... and get more fun great features
