Take these !!!
www.hyperactive.de !!!!!!!
I Have spoken with the german Echo Distributor !!
The Card is available in 14 days and its the cheapest and smallest Solution for the Laptop-DJ !!!! Best Quality for this price !!!
I would buy the M-Audio 410 Firewire, cause its small too and i will have 2 different Headphone Outs - So you can start and play your Performance with two different DJs - or your Girlfriend

echo indigo
i'm looking at these cards as well, though it is hard for me to decide whether i'd actually want the "dj" model or the one with the inputs. i've been using a regular first generation indigo ever since it came out and it is awesome - the first thing i did was write them begging for one with audio input.
wish they would make the ports dual purpose (selectable) so one pair could function as either a second discrete pair of outputs (3/4) or an input.
maybe generation 3 for that..
also the multihost drivers should be great. the echo mia has drivers like that and it was great to be able to have cubase open and a sample editor simultaneously.

well... the indigo is a dope as soundcard what more can i say but echo the sentiments of other first generation indigo owners.
1. the card is quiet as hell, at first I thought maybe mine was defected, I don't know how they do it but this is how it should be done. I plugged my headphones, sony 7506s into the headphone out and I didn't hear a damn thing, I turned up the vollume and didn't hear a damn thing again, then I pressed play on an arrangement and damn I heard everything, the card has this crystal transparent sound without being harsh or irritating.
I was going to buy a pair of Etymotic headphones cause you know laptops have infamously low out puts but now I don't have to waste that 2- 300 bucks, I think the echo is loud enough for working on beats in a coffee shop without being disturbed, I might order a pair of those headphones from the dealer called 'headroom' just to try them out anyway because there is something to be said for equality among the chain and they are suppose to be the best besides 'headroom' has a 30 day return policy. but they are probably not the necessity that I thought they would be the indigo
sounds better than that great.
btw the version I got was the indigo in/ out, I haven't tried the other versions. I am extremely happy, and from what I'm hearing from Ryan about Fruity loops vsti/ rewire stability I think I'm going to be in heaven on earth in a very short amount of time. indigo, Live, Reason, FL-vsti/ rewire... Damn!
for those that wonder, I just got a panasonic lets note W2, it's beautiful, weighs 2.8pounds, is a centrino 900mhz, 512mb, 40gig hardrive, sb 2.o sd card slot, and pcmcia. the only thing I wish it had was firewire ports but
my external firewire drive has usb 2.0 ports also so it's not that big of a deal. here's a link to someone selling one on ebay.

I am not selling mine!!! but if you want the detailed specs there they are.
I was looking for a laptop to turn soley into my own custom hardware sampler and use with my akai mpd16 pad controller, this is the one. I've had other laptops, I had an ibook 600mhz and a sony picturebook, as well as a sony vx88, the problem with these laptops is that they looked like laptops, I always thought that the only thing important was functionality, then I started to really pay attention to the powerbooks and try them out and found out how much the look of the laptop effects how you interface with it, and therefore effects your creativity. This panasonic toughbook that I got really looks and feels like something an instrument I'd be sampling with and making my kind of hiphop music. it really makes a difference.

does indigo crowd out ports?
hey mic-minimal...
How are the inputs on the indigo i/o?
Also, does anyone with a new powerbook have any of the indigo cards? My new powerbook features the ports on the side and this places them next to the pcmcia card slot... I'm worried that if I buy one of the indigos and use both of it's plugs it will then block access to my other ports (namely my powerbook's usb2.0). Does anyone know if this is the case? Any ofl you dj's using both outputs of your indigo dj on a laptop with ports next to the pc card slot?

hey there, i'm interested in picking up the i/o card as well, as the ability to record audio is a bit more of a neccessity to me than having multiple outputs.mic-minimal wrote:well... the indigo is a dope as soundcard what more can i say but echo the sentiments of other first generation indigo owners.
though, i really would like to have those multi-outs as well.
what i'm pondering about now are these virtual outputs that are meant to allow you to use multiple apps and what not...

according to this pic of the i/o console, i'm assuming that it should be possible to assign two different stereo outputs from the same app to this virtual output console. then, in this console, you could then route one stereo pair to the left channel and the other to the right channel - in effect having a seperate pair of mono outs that could be mixed in an analog mixer or used as a cue/master sort of function.
as someone who already has one of these, can you confirm if this is a possibility or not?
thanks much.
