When the arrangement view was introduced I got hooked - being able to "record" a jam session, so the song practically writes itself and then still refine or completely rework it was a dream come true.

Still I needed something to host VSTis and VSTs, so it was not before MIDI was introduced that I switched.

Never regretted it once.

Live 3

I got it to supplement my DJ rig while gigging with a freaky acid samba band.

I always found sequencers and protools confusing - and I worked on Reason and Fruityloops. Live was very natural for me, and the REWIRE function allowed me to finally start adding my own vocals and use VST. When MIDI was added, I started connecting all my hardware and actually producing.

I tend to contort live and use complex routing - so I am always having revelations. The idea of figuring it all out seems really difficult since just when I begin to master a version, the next version is released.
