Is that no what the demos for? to make up your mind rather than listen to the sales bull shitb0unce wrote:he bought it because he believed the marketing spiel....I dont think he was hoping for more then he was promised. my advice is stop spending your time writng big posts and go research on a product that does what you want.....
if you cant find any go get a copy of delphi or summit and make one that suits your needs.
Another version,another payment,and no old faults resolved?

ya you can do that. or you could skip the demo. if live 4 delivered its promises, there was no reason to assume 5 wouldnt. suffice as to say, lesson learned.
edit: and besides, the real shocking thing is how long it took for 5.03 to drop - 5.03 should have been 5.0 .......so if you used the demo or otherwise, even if you noticed the bugs then, its not unreasonable to buy the product anyways and assume they'll delivery the promised software in a timely fashion (as opposed to having their programmers devloping a new extra-charge device - whilst the current version suffers badly)
of course, thats taking a company at their word.....which as you point out, is probably naive in this day and age.
you did pay for your copy of live 5.0 didnt you ? and I suppose you were just delighted to wait for 5.03 ?

, and what I am doing. But don't misunderstand me: I love Live for being able to record ideas fast and it's ability for live usage, and I think it can get a better tool. But those simple improvements I was talking about could have been implemented before.

@Eraldo Bernocchi
And I use Live since V3.0, and you were bringing it to the point what I am thinking.
@quandry and theque
Yes, that's what I greatly appreciate, and it may be one of the reasons I bought updates without much thinking
On the other side, there are not many software companies come to my mind which ask their customers every year for some more money...
So I will wait some time, and see how the wind blows in the next year...
Yes, sure, you are right, that's what I wanted to say with my postI say if it isn't working for you ... Don't buy it. Simple. If there are better tools use those.
Thanks peeddrroo, that sounds quite good!I'd rather not comment about it, cause it's still a beta, but the arrangement performance has been greatly improved lately.
currently, i don't feel no lag anymore (and i was also upset with L5).
@the dark wizard
We needed Live for a Band project, so I bought it. And I haven't read any bad complaints about time-lag at this time, and simply thought this fault have been due to fast development of Live and should be solved then. But - I learned from that! And as other said, too: My post was aimed as a suggestion for improvement of Live and as a hint for ableton to think about their product placements!you shouldnt have bought live 5 if it was missing features your were longing for. whats the point in spending more money on live when its still not giving you what you want.....

their is a time lag because live puts the purity of the audio stream above all other tasks. I used to use other DAWS and would hate when it crackled while I was moving stuff about. I dont mind waiting the 3 seconds it takes.ct43 wrote:i really wish there wasent a time lag in arrange view as well... really does my head in that one!!
I dont understand programing or anything, but I cant understand why Cubase can copy and paste a part instantly and Live cant!!
Im sure someone will tell me why, but its deffinatly a pain.

That's because there isn't so much division between Logic users.theque wrote:i think quandry has something there, i cant really see myself asking logic for a new feature and actually expecting it. i think no company is perfect but ableton really does seem to try. they even read the forum and chip in now and then
You don't have half their user base wanting Logic turned into a Live tool.
Where as here there are those that want the "Live" end of things honed to perfection and screw the DAW aspect (Like me) and then there are those who want Live developed into a full blown DAW.
The perfect mix for constant arguements!!
With the Likes of Logic/Cubase, everyone knows the direction they are going anyway.
