basically, you can build more complex applications.

bidule is a higher level program. with max, u can get into the code much further, or even write c++ / java code for it. max has been around for almost 20 yrs now, and bidule has probably been around for 4/5 yrs.

there are lots of things that max can do that bidule cant, but listing them would probably take most of this page. having said that, bidule is a great little app which is probably easier to learn...

Pure Data

Post by Korhan » Fri Aug 18, 2006 8:49 am

Why don't you use Pure Data? It's free and doing MIDI LFO's are very easy. Syncing them to master clock is not possible on Windows though.

Get it at http://puredata.info/

could you possibly give me an lfo you've made with it so I don't have to fight the learning curve? I work insane amounts of hours and when I want to make music I just want to make it I don't want to fuss with manuals and figuring out what the hell I'm looking at is.

hmmm, im curious about this max msp thing too. im starting a college course next month and i know they're going to be teaching me it there. will it allow me to use a usb joystick as a controller so i can (for example) move around in the session view and fire off clips or move the green ball around in an effect to alter parameters?

max/msp has indeed the best help system ever.
bidule is a bit tedious indeed.
dont like audiomulch.
got bored of console.
stopped trying to make htings with Synthedit due to several issues.
pd´s manual is.. well.. not the best heh.

so whats left then?
this:
www.synthmaker.com
enjoy.
read the forums btw. also worth noticing is that its pretty dead easy to use, got lowlever/mid level and high level modules, depending on how brave youre feeling about your programming for the moment.

edit: learn to spell.
