That's what they do. Sell you broken stuff then charge for updates which might be broken too.

looks fine, but why the hell do they go USB in that pricerange?
More fallout from those stupid 4-pin mini-firewire ports that all the Wintel mfrs put on their laptops to save 5 cents. NI wouldn't be able to sell enough Firewire versions to justify the design decision, because so many laptop users would lose the benefit of bus-powered operation. 4-pin Firewire - the thing that should not be.

Gotta say, I looked at the specs... it pains me to say this since I'd rather see NI focus on fixing their software (they are a software company right?)... but it looks pretty cool. Phantom power XLR, inst/line 1/4", input and output level knobs all around, MIDI I/O, MIDI knobs and buttons... I could put this thing to good use. If it would work alongside the RK2 footcontroller I'd snap it up in a second, but I know that's a pipedream.

Aside: I imagine anybody who's seriously interested and already paid for any of the bundled software will be pi$$ed.

Except that the unreliability of bus power seems to be the worst and most dangerous thing about Firewire.

i have spend plenty money for guitar rig 1. One month later they came out with version 2 with the new controller. so i sold version 1 and bought it. and its still not working with usable latency on my 12" PowerBook. Even the powerbooks line-in sounds better and has lower latency!

On my Intel iMac i can't use it because there is no universal binary version yet! :x

Thank god. It`s about time people start ditching this crappy platform. :)
