COSM wrote:By fake live I mean dudes who are advertised as live, turning up and playing a stereo channel in cubase/live etc and dancing around like they are doing stuff.....Thats what I mean by fake!
You mean like the "World famous DJ" I saw from backstage with 2 Instant Replays hidden on a shelf under his turntables?

name and shame! name and shame!!!!

Let's put these charlatans out of business! They serve no-one: The promoter, the punter, they devalue the effort put in by truly live acts.

NAME AND SHAME I'll start with one, fractal glider 23/12/2001 at Summer Soulstice, Orton Bradley Park, Christchurch NZ.

Thanks for the comments fellas

dbolt - Most of my synth work is software based, with my main synths being z3ta+ and korg legacy. Sometimes I use albino 2 but am saving my pennies to get 3 as it looks pretty wicked!! The hardware synth work was done on the synth on the x-station and an alesis micron (I love this little machine). Cheers for watch/listening.

youri - The weather! I went from 2/3 degree temperatures in my hometown (Christchurch, New Zealand) to 35/40 degree temps in Portugal. It was soooo damn hot... if it wasn't for the lake I dunno what people would do! that lake saved my ass so many times. I belive it got up to mid 40's about halfway through the festival cos of a heatwave or something.

Video software.... for the boom festival video I used Virtual dub to cut up my footage, then I imported it all into after effects and mucked about. It wasn't the best way to do it.. I usualyl use sony vegas as its heaps easier and faster to preview etc but IU thought I would try my skills at after effects for a change.

No money for live 6 as of yet! :(

Pitch Black - whoaaaahaha steady on paddy... you're right tho maybee we should start a database of people who have been busted blatently faking it. I actually remember that solstice, it was one of the first I went to. Can't remember seeing fractal glider however...

j0shu@ - Thanks man! feel free to point as many people as you like!

zEr0 - It was pretty magic eh? What did yout think of the music in the main zone at night? Thanks for the nice words.

philipbarrett - hehe. get cracking noob! I found the best way to get stuff done was to blatently lie abotu how good I am, get myself a prime time spot and a big party and freak out for a month preparing. This way you HAVE to get your act together for a timeline.. it works haha

YILA - I sent them a demo 2 and half years ago!! i sent of 50 demos, and never heard ANYTHING... until a few months back i got an email saying hey, liked your demo, wanna play? simple as that! its nice to know that method still works and you dont need to have the backing of a huge record label or anything. Handwritten letters speak much louder than emails ive found.

Man as I said this was my FIRST psytrance festival and I had no idea what to expect. As a newbie to psytrance (I've been listening to it for about a year now...), I still find the night music a bit hard to digest after the first hour. I'm still more into the morning stuff so far but I know it's just a matter of time before I get used to the most extreme extradimensional sounds of the dark side. Of course this doesn't mean that I don't respect the night music like a lot of people at the festival who kept complaining about it "not being musical at all"... As far as my modest experience tells me the music was great and I really had a great time dancing both during the day AND night.

COSM, absolutely amazing stuff. Really impressing to me.
I think I have seen a video of you on youtube, rocking a small crowd in a club in New Zealand. I remember 'cause it was great, too.

COSM, great video!!!! And I can't keep that song out of my head. I just got back from vacation, and I had to watch the video again. I hope things continue to open up for you.

Just out of curiousity, what did you mean by the following:
I think my music was quite different to the general style there, which I blame on living on a small island/country away from the rest of the scene hehe.
